Synopsis:

It is five years in the future. The amount of solar energy reaching Earth has been dropping steadily and rapidly, causing temperatures to fall all around the world. Scientists are unable to identify the cause. Unless a solution is found, Earth will become a frozen wasteland in a few weeks.

Climatologist Derrick Windsor is on location with Karina Lowell, a documentary filmmaker. Karina is making a documentary covering the effects of the catastrophe and the efforts to find the cause. While shooting, they find a man nearly frozen in his car, babbling about having a solution to the crisis and being hunted by the CIA. Derrick realizes he knows the man. He is Dr. Trane, a scientist and long-time friend of Derrick's late father. Dr. Trane suffered a mental breakdown years earlier, which lead to his ousting from the scientific community for his bizarre theories and behavior.

As Derrick becomes reaquainted with Dr. Trane, he discovers that the doctor may not be as crazy as he seems, and that he may have been the victim of a diabolical plot. Derrick must figure out the connection between Dr. Trane's breakdown and a crucial discovery that could save Earth from its frozen fate.
